Krabi, Thailand – A 19-year-old woman, identified as Noon, suffered serious burns to her right side and back after being attacked with hot oil at a shopping mall in Krabi province, southern Thailand.
The incident occurred on Friday, April 4, 2026, in the food court of a shopping mall, while the victim was preparing to close her drinks stand.
According to the victim, her coworker, identified as 32-year-old Fon Wilawan, who worked at a neighboring fried food stand, grabbed a container of hot frying oil and suddenly threw it at her.
Security cameras at the mall recorded the incident: the assailant called the victim by name, the victim turned around, and was immediately doused with oil.
After the attack, the perpetrator tried to flee, briefly returning to retrieve her bag, but was detained by witnesses and other shoppers in the mall, who prevented her escape.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene after being alerted by mall staff, provided first aid to the victim, and transported her to Krabi Hospital for specialized treatment of her burns.
The assailant was immediately arrested at the scene by police and taken to the Mueang Krabi police station for further investigation.
The victim stated that she had previously had a verbal argument with the assailant, but did not expect such a reaction.
In her initial statement, the perpetrator claimed it was an accident, but the video footage contradicted this assertion and confirmed the intentional nature of the attack.
So far, Thai authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact causes of the incident and to file the corresponding charges against the detainee.
