Contexto

A resident of a building at 2441 Fitz Roy Street, in the Palermo neighborhood, was arrested by the Buenos Aires City Police after being recorded by security cameras beating and violently throwing his dog in the lobby.

A 46-year-old man, identified as Gonzalo Matías Calderón Doblas, was caught on camera grabbing his dog by the back, lifting it into the air, and slamming it forcefully to the floor of the lobby.

According to the released footage, the dog was stunned by the impact. Immediately afterward, the man put the dog in the elevator and went up to his apartment.

The building manager, alerted by the dog's cries, reviewed the security camera footage and filed a report.

The City Police intervened at the scene and detained the accused, who was placed at the disposal of the court on charges of animal abuse and cruelty.

A neighbor who participated in the report received threats after the incident. Initially, by court order, the dog had been placed in the temporary care of the woman who reported the incident.

However, in a decision that generated controversy and criticism on social media and in the press, the animal was given to the accused's daughter.
