A family moment turned into a scene of terror. What seemed like a normal afternoon at a ceviche restaurant in Zone 6 of Guatemala City transformed into a bloody ambush that left six people dead and several wounded, including a child of just 5 years old.

The incident occurred on April 20 at a residence that operated as a restaurant, located at 18th Avenue and 8th Street. According to reports, at least two armed men entered the establishment and opened fire on those present, giving them no time to react.

Five people died at the scene, while another died upon arrival at the hospital, raising the total number of fatalities to six.

Authorities confirmed that among the dead were men and women who were simply socializing inside the establishment, with no connection to the attack.

Initial hypotheses suggest the attack was directed against a specific individual, allegedly linked to extortion.

However, the violence ended up affecting those nearby. Experts point out that these types of incidents demonstrate an increasingly common pattern: innocent people dying “for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Among the wounded is a 5-year-old boy who was taken to a hospital and remains under medical observation.

His case has sparked outrage, as he is considered a victim completely uninvolved in any conflict.

Security cameras captured the moment the attackers stormed into the establishment and opened fire on the patrons. The images, shared on social media, show the speed and cold-bloodedness of the attack.

Despite the police and military presence, authorities have not yet reported any arrests related to the massacre.
