A 27-year-old man was killed after being shot in the back in a violent attack in Villa Fiorito, in Greater Buenos Aires. The case has generated shock not only because of the brutality of the crime, but also because of what happened afterward: the victim managed to attend his daughter's birthday party with the bullet still lodged in his body.
A Direct Attack in the Early Morning
The incident occurred around 5:23 a.m. at the intersection of La Haya and Itatí streets, in an open-air garbage dump. According to investigators, the young man was with two other homeless people when two suspects arrived on a motorcycle.
One of them got off the motorcycle, approached the victim directly, and shot him in the back without saying a word. After the attack, the assailants fled and remain at large. Authorities believe both are minors and are actively searching for them.
Mortal Wounded, He Went to His Daughter's Birthday Party
Despite the severity of his wound, the young man remained conscious and left the scene. In a move that shocked investigators, he decided to attend his daughter's birthday party with the bullet still lodged in his body.
As the hours passed, his condition worsened. He was eventually rushed to Evita Hospital in Lanús, where he died from his injuries.
Investigators are working on the hypothesis of a prior conflict. They are not ruling out the possibility that the attack was premeditated and carried out as direct retaliation against the victim.
